Consultations
A consultation is a great option for brides who need a lot of alterations on their gown. Especially vintage, second-hand, and off the rack gowns which sometimes need a little extra attention. During your consultation I will walk you through what needs to be done to your gown, and help you come up with creative solutions based on your specific vision for your dress. Alterations generally start 2-3 months prior to your wedding, to avoid running into unexpected weight gain/loss. Consultations are for those brides who want to get a head start on planning for alterations. This is also a chance to get an advanced quote. Consultations start at $35 for 45 minutes.

What does the fitting process look like?

When you're ready to book your appointment you can do so through the booking tab here on my website. That will tell you all the information you need to know about how to find my studio. My space is located inside the Madhouse Multi-Arts Building in Greenfield, a large brown stone building just past the YMCA going out of town. There is street parking, and a few spots out back. I will meet you at the back door of the building and show you to my studio.
Time for your first fitting! A few things to remember: your dress, shoes, proper undergarments, and a face mask (if required by the state at the time of fitting). Because my space is so small, I recommend that you bring only one person at a time.
When you come into my space I'll ask you some questions about your gown, double check that you brought your shoes, and take any measurements necessary. Once that's done, I'll have you put on your gown. We'll go over what needs adjusting and I'll point out any areas that seem ill-fit. This is your time to let me know how you want to look and feel on your wedding day. I'll pin where it's needed and take lots of notes. If you're on a budget, I'm happy to be candid with you about what alterations are necessary and which are optional so you can choose your fit. If you have insecurities you want to cover up, please communicate that with me. I'm happy to help, but everyone is different and I never want to assume what someone wants changed.
After your fitting you will take off your gown and we'll hang it on my gown rack. At this point we'll go over alterations and how much everything is going to cost. If the costs exceed my previous quote by a large amount, I will warn you during your fitting so that we avoid surprises. All payment is due upfront at first fitting (I take cash, check, and Venmo) with the exception of more complicated alterations which are charged by the hour.
Finally, we'll schedule you for your next fittings. Generally this means a fitting and a pickup, however in certain cases a third fitting will be necessary. At your second fitting all alterations will be set but not finished. Once we've approved everything, I'll finish up your alterations for your pickup. If you've paid for pressing and steaming we'll schedule your pickup for several days before your wedding, so you don't have to worry about it getting wrinkled.

FAQ
When should I schedule my alterations?
I recommend reaching out six months in advance to book your appointment. This will insure we get to work together, as I am a one person operation I can only take on so many gowns. We will schedule your first appointment for 8-12 weeks from your wedding. Your last appointment should take place about 2-3 weeks from your wedding day. This might seem close, but it ensures your dress will fit perfectly on the big day. Please note, any wedding gowns with less than a 4 week turnaround will be charged a rush fee.
How much do alterations cost?
Alterations will generally range from 200-600. Prices depend on the type of alteration and the style of the gown. You can check out my price list or come in for a consultation to get an idea of how much alterations will cost.
What should I bring to my fitting?
The most important things to bring to your fitting are:
Your beautiful gown!
Shoes (I can't hem your gown without them!)
Undergarments (if you are wearing any, a bra for example)
Payment (all payment is due upfront, before alterations begin.)
Can we personalize my gown?
Yes! Custom gown alterations are my favorite! We can create unique accessories, belts, sleeves, whatever you can dream up! If you are looking to create something custom, please contact me as early as possible. I want to work with you, but custom pieces take time!
Do you create custom wedding gowns?
Definitely! I love creating custom gowns! If you are interested in having a custom wedding gown made, I require at least 8-12 months for the design and fitting process. The custom process is complicated and requires a lot of communication, so if you are interested I encourage you to email me! I'll ask you some questions about what you are looking for, and we'll begin there.
Is your studio accessible?
The back entrance to the building (where clients enter) has a wheelchair ramp, however my studio is located on the second floor, up a large flight of stairs. If this is an issue for you, please contact me! I have the option to use one of the downstairs community spaces for fittings, if I have enough time to schedule ahead. I also provide a home fitting option to those who are unable to, or have difficulty, traveling. Contact me for more information!
